Obituary for Karen Sue Wright

Karen Sue Righetti Wright, 69, of Waynesburg, PA, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at home surrounded by loved ones. Karen was born on August 15, 1948, the daughter of the late Charles and Garnet Taylor Righetti.
She graduated from Waynesburg Central High School in 1966 and from Waynesburg College in 1970 with a degree in elementary education. She obtained a Master’s in Education from West Virginia University. She was employed by the Central Greene School District as a first grade teacher where she taught at South Ward School, East Franklin School, and Waynesburg Central Elementary School for a total of 36 ½ years. She enjoyed RV traveling, visiting family and friends, and attending events with her granddaughters.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg, where on December 29, 1973, she married Gary W. Wright, who survives. In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her daughter Chera Strelick, and her son-in-law Brian Strelick, granddaughters Lauren and Kayla, one aunt, several cousins, and numerous friends.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of love not only by way of her family and friends but also by virtue of her many students. She will undoubtedly be remembered for her warm smile, her kind heart, and her thoughtful nature. Karen never forgot a birthday or an anniversary, and she followed the academic careers of her former students, sending them cards upon graduation from high school. She also sent handwritten thank you notes whenever possible. Additionally, Karen will certainly be remembered for the way she lived her life. She sincerely celebrated the victories of those she held dear, and she genuinely felt their losses. She exuded intelligence, modesty, and gentleness. She placed her trust in God. She loved, and she was loved.
Her family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heartfelt forms from so many. A special thanks to Donnell House and Concordia Hospice nurses and staff.
As an expression of sympathy and as a living tribute to Karen, instead of sending a fresh arrangement, please plant a flower -- perhaps a pansy, her favorite -- in your garden and enjoy watching it bloom and the butterflies it may bring.
