Obituary for H. Richard Davis

H. Richard Davis, 94, of Waynesburg, PA, died at 12:15 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in the Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Waynesburg, PA.
He was born Thursday, July 26, 1923 in Waynesburg, PA. A son of the late Harry Davis and Bertha McClelland Davis.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Washington St. United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. He had served as a trustee of the church and had served on several committees. He was a member of the former Waynesburg Odd Fellows and was a former member of the V.F.W. Post #4793 of Waynesburg. Mr. Davis was a 50 year member of the James Farrell American Legion Post # 330 of Waynesburg. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union # 9 formerly #11. Mr. Davis was a life member of the Rices Landing Boat Club where he loved spending as much time as he could. He belonged to the 1st Western Style Square Dance Club attending 8 National Competitions. He was a Veteran having served with the U.S. Army during WW.II as a medic in the infantry. He served both in the European and Pacific Theaters of operations. The division that Mr. Davis served in fired the last shot of W.W. II. the 97th Division Infantry, 322 Medical Battalion. Mr. Davis worked for 41 years as a bricklayer retiring in 1985, having worked for several different contractors.
His Wife: Thelma Shoup Davis, whom he married on February 14, 1943 died February 17, 2006.
Surviving are 1 Daughter: Mitzi L. (Gerry) Bailey, of Prosperity, PA., 5 Grandchildren: Sean (Leonor) Davis, Ryan (Jennifer) Davis, Aryn (Rebekah) Wadadli, Cami (Marty) Ryan, Ariel Bailey.,9 Great Grandchildren: Sabine Wadadli, Helena Davis, Ana Davis, Elli Davis, Will Davis, Lochlan Davis, Piper Davis, Graham Jenkins, and Amelia Jenkins. 3 Sisters: Margaret Conklin, of Waynesburg, PA., Jean Lemley, of Washington, PA., and
Patricia Bleakney, of Aurora, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are 1 Son and Daughter In Law: William R. and Kathy Davis, 1 Sister: Helen McCullough.
Friends will be received from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH, Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director,197 N. Maiden St Waynesburg, PA 15370 where services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, December 30, 2017 with Rev. Tim Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Greene Co. Memorial Park, Morgan Twp.,Greene County, PA. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the V.F.W.Post #4793 and the James Farrell American Legion Post #330 both of Waynesburg and Representatives of the U.S. Army. The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 1100 Liberty Ave. STE E-201, Pittsburgh, PA. 15222-4240.
