Obituary for Florence Lee Snyder Hincy

Florence Lee Snyder Hincy, age 101, passed away on November 15, 2017. She was born on January 22, 1916 to Irene Evans Hixenbaugh and Russell Berkley Hixenbaugh in Hundred, West Virginia. Florence graduated from Hundred High School and attended Fairmont State College where she was a member of Gamma Chi Chi Sorority.
She married Charles William Snyder on January 16, 1938, and together they operated a farm feed store in Hundred. Prior to Charles' entering the army during World War II, they resided briefly in Pittsburgh, PA. Following the war they returned to Charles' home town of Waynesburg, PA. where they raised their family of three children; Michael (wife Cathleen), Carolyn (husband Bill Lemmon), and Bill (wife Pam). They instilled in their children the value of education, and all of them obtained advanced college degrees. For many years they operated a farming and poultry business in Greene County. In 1963 they purchased and managed a mobile home park in Miami. When Charles died in 1966, Florence returned to Waynesburg where she worked at the Waynesburg College and Jo Ann's clothing store.
She married Tyrus Hincy in Waynesburg on May 14, 1979, and they spent many happy years together. Following Ty's death in 2004, she moved to Pawleys Island, South Carolina and later to Georgetown, South Carolina.
Florence Lee was preceeded in death by her parents and brothers Kenneth and Keith. She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren; Amy Ervin (husband Mark), Susan Heberts (husband Nathan), Ashley Ward (husband Richard), Meredith Lemmon, Chad Snyder (wife Marion), Elizabeth Pitcher (husband Larsen), and eight great- grandchildren; Oliver, Genevieve and Charlotte Ward; Will and Graham Snyder; Rockne and Beckett Pitcher; and Lily Ervin.
Florence was a devoted wife and mother and loved all things related to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, travels with Ty, and the West Virginia Mountaineers.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 North Maiden Street Waynesburg, PA. 15370 Daryl L. Throckmorton owner/director followed by a Mass of Christian burial at the St. Ann Roman Catholic Church High St. Waynesburg at 11:00 AM with Father Francis Frazer as celebrant.Burial will be in the St. Ann Cemetery in Waynesburg.
