Obituary for Carol R. Harms

Carol Romaine (Jones) Harms was released from her battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Friday, September 8, 2017. Her loving husband Ted died in January of 2015. They had been married for 67 wonderful years. Carol was born on December 22, 1929, in Waynesburg, PA, to Carl and Clarice Jones; she was one of eight children. Carol graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1947. In August of that year she married Theodore G. Harms, Jr. They had four loving children: Debbie, Ted, Lise, and Laura. They lived for a time in Chicago, IL, Moundsville, WV, and Wheeling, WV, and then moved to Bethel Park, PA, where they lived for 30 years. They were active members of Christ United Methodist Church, and Carol was a long-time volunteer at the United Methodist Home.  She was also a member of the Bethel Fife and Drum chapter of the DAR. In 1984 Ted and Carol moved to Kissimmee, FL, where they enjoyed their retirement years for three decades. They were both actively involved at the local Methodist church where Carol especially enjoyed her involvement in the choir. She also belonged to the Joshua Stevens chapter of the DAR.  Left to cherish beautiful memories of Carol are her children Debbie, Ted and his wife Sandy, Lise Clouser and her husband Rob, Laura Ashton and her husband Scott; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Berry and Mary Kughn.  The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the staff at Courtyards of Orlando who showed much care, compassion, and love to “Miss Carol” as well as her family during her time with them over the last two years.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help combat this devastating disease.  Friends will be received from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH,Inc.  197 N. Maiden St. Waynesburg, PA 15370 Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director where services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 with Rev. William Parker officiating.  Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Twp., PA 15370  Information is available at www.milliken-throckmortonfh.com
